Pourtant, ces loges ont joué un rôle de premier plan dans l ? intégration des Noirs dans la société américaine. Aujourd ? hui encore, Blancs et Noirs évitent de se côtoyer en francmaçonnerie. Les relations entre leurs loges sont le reflet de la société multiculturelle américaine : les communautés se tolèrent sans pour autant que les citoyens fraternisent. La franc-maçonnerie blanche des Etats-Unis tarde à reconnaître la franc-maçonnerie noire.
