For more than two thousand miles, the Appalachian Trail winds its way through hilly and mountainous terrain from Springer Mountain, Georgia, to Mount Katahdin, Maine. Hiking its 2,188 mile length seems like an impossible task, but every year adventurers from all over the world give it a try. Many come to the trail because they’re looking for something. John, aka “Morris the Cat,” is one of those searchers.
The first volume of The World We Left Behind: A Journey from Georgia to Maine details John and his hiking companion Torry’s, first steps into “the chaotic unknown” that is the Appalachian Trail.
The World We Left Behind: Book Two follows their adventure 762 miles north as they encounter thieves in Hot Springs, North Carolina, and motorcycle gangs in Hampton, Tennessee, among the many other adventures they share. Readers will connect with the cast of colorful characters met on and off the trail, through the dramatic, and spontaneous events that truly make up a thru-hike.
Morris finds true belonging within the community of hikers, with every sense of the phrase “Hike Your Own Hike” epitomizing his journey.
Hikers and armchair wanderers alike will find this book an inspirational read!"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
