About the Author

J. Maria Merrills, PhD (Writer/Producer) received her PhD in Educational Studies with a concentration in online learning from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She holds an M.A. in African American Literature from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and a B. A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Contributing multiple articles for a variety of newspapers and journals, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at Winston-Salem State.
