WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS JESUS BUILDING?
Many people today sense we have gotten so focused on planting and growing churches designed to meet people's expectations that we have lost sight of Jesus' original intent. When Jesus said he would build the church, what kind of church did he have in mind? A careful reading of the Gospels reveals Jesus' life was focused on three key priorities:
- Empowerment: giving people the power to live a new kind of life by restoring their true identity and teaching them to exercise their God-given authority
- Discipleship: training people to do everything he did by inviting them into his life and showing them how to multiply that way of life in the lives of others.
- Mission: calling people to live out the purpose of God for the sake of others as part of an extended spiritual family on mission to change the world.

About the Author
Bob Rognlien is an experienced pastor, church consultant, conference speaker, archaeological guide, and published author. His passion is illuminating the ancient Way of Jesus to equip leaders to multiply missional disciples who are empowered to change the world. For nearly 30 years he has been leading people to the Holy Land on unique spiritual pilgrimages in the historical footsteps of Jesus and Paul.A graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, Bob has also carried out post-graduate studies at the Ecole Biblique et Archeologique in Jerusalem. Over the past 30 years he has served as a church leader in northern and southern California, as well as New Jersey and Jerusalem. Bob is the Founder and Director of the Footsteps Experience movement, serves as Director of 3DM West, and spends his summers writing at the family cabin on Flathead Lake in Montana. When he is not leading trips in the Middle East or writing books in Montana, he lives in Los Angeles where he loves to surf, ski, sail, backpack, cook, read, and watch movies.
