About the Author

James Tornabene has been involved with the fire service for over 20 years with 5 of those as a Fire Chief. He then went back to school to obtain an MA in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology and almost completed a PhD in the same discipline. I/O Psychology is the science of running organizations from hiring and promoting the best people to change management and leadership. James has been involved with volunteer and career departments as well as teaching fire and EMS courses with three colleges. He has moved up through the ranks and has been a progressive fire service leader with a focus on training and inclusive management. In continuation of his dedication to the fire service he now wants to share what he has learned with other departments.
