Growing up in the 70's in East L.A. was not for the weak. Gangs were almost a requirement for survival of the fittest then. Some say they still are. However this is a story about a young Hispanic man who with the gift of gab who managed to drum up business starting at the age of ten. This is a story of how he stood by his values, gained friends, and made more money than his hard working aunt, all without violence, in a very violent world-until his darkest hour when he got caught for something he didn't do. It is a story anyone who grew up during those times will recognized and relate to. It is also a good story for Young Adults. Some things never change, like being true to your word, not taking advantage of people, and helping them out if you can. Five Stars. Nancy Louise
