About the Author

TONY PRINCE. Soon after introducing The Beatles on stage the very night 'Please Please Me' went to the top of the chart, Tony was expelled from the Musician's Union for playing records in a Bristol dancehall. He became a test case for Top Rank Dancing causing his singing career to come to an end. He joined Radio Caroline where he became The Royal Ruler and then, for 16 years, broadcast from Radio Luxembourg the daddy of all pop radio. He was the only DJ to interview Elvis Presley becoming Honorary President of his fan club. In his later career he launched DMC pioneering mixing and remixing music. He launched the WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS, published and edited Mixmag magazine and once hit the headlines for saving a man from drowning in the Thames. JAN SESTAK. Jan lives in his home town Brno in the Czech Republic. His parents suffered years in Nazi Concentration Camps, Dachau and Ravensbuck. With a poor communist record Jan found it impossible to accomplish his ambition to become a DJ. Soon after the Russian invasion of his country he met Tony Prince. 30 years later they met again when Tony returned to the Bav club in Brno for a reunion. The two DJs decided to write about their extraordinary and extremely different lives.
