Synopsis

An excellent collection of poems with a unique turn of phrase and subject. Dianne Aslett creates poems that lie slightly off-kilter and in the margins. They exist far away in the spiritual ether to appear unsettling and alien on first sight, but close enough to be instantly known as messages sent to explain all the complexities and disturbances of life to us, and soothe our fears, in a unique, compelling way. For all the strange shapes she creates, her words are immediate, comforting and welcoming. They are instantly recognisable as the authentic howl of protest and just anger. Her voice has gone unheard for too long. At last the whole world can get to hear her, to have her act as our light to guide us through all of our tribulations of being. Dianne Aslett's poems are powerful, outspoken and engaging. Across this ambitious collection, and sometimes within individual poems, she tackles subjects ranging from politics to spirituality to mental health to politics. This is original and striking poetry which has something important to tell us.
