He sets out his own journey of faith as well as his practice of journaling, where eventually prayer and journaling met. Not only does he set out a form of soul journaling, but he also explains how this is a healthy practice of what others call mindfulness, where the noise of this world dials down and God's voice becomes clearer and clearer.
As a writer, Patrick addresses the lie of perfectionism and the inner critic and shows how he deals with both.
When it comes to the choice of paper or digital, Patrick is not dogmatic but revisits the freedom and benefits of going back to a paper journal.
He also examines the distinctions in human nature of the soul and the spirit, arguing that these are not the same, despite often being confused in popular culture. His conclusions reinforce the idea that growth in our soul is the basis for life transformation.
