Chantill’s teaching philosophy: Be real. Don’t fake it. Be able to say you don’t know. Laugh at yourself. Extend compassion to yourself and your students. Enter in fully, every time, ready or not. Chantill has been practicing Pilates for nearly 20 years, and teaching movement since 1990. She was a semi-professional contemporary dancer for many years while at first pursuing a career in journalism and later in the movement arts. In the past four years Chantill has combined both passions to create the educational company Skillful Teaching. Through Skillful Teaching she combines her training and expertise as a movement teacher, meditation practitioner, anatomy geek, and creative entrepreneur to help guide teachers toward more fulfilling work and personal lives. Chantill is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified teacher who studied both through the PhysicalMind Institute and with second generation Master Teacher Carol Appel, a direct descendant of Romana Kryzanowska. She is a Balanced Body Faculty member and Director of Education and Mentoring at Pilates Collective in Northern California, a studio she co-founded in 2006. as we speak she is also working on her second book The Art of Skillful Teaching: The Ultimate Resource Guide For Movement Teachers. Chantill lives in Northern California with her husband, son and, by now, daughter, and teaches throughout the United States and Mexico.
