About the Author

James R. Riffel is a journalist who covers government, politics and courts in San Diego. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, he grew up in Los Angeles. After graduating from San Diego State University, he was wise enough to remain where he was -- aside from a three-year detour in Palm Springs. He is the author of the football adventure novel A Coach at Heart and the humorous short story THE TRADING DEADLINE. He lives near San Diego with his wife and children.
