THE SOWING, the first book in the SEEDS trilogy, has been optioned for film by Big Picture Ranch, an independent production company located in Ojai, California, along with THE PRELUDE, a novella set in the same world. Big Picture Ranch specializes in films that raise awareness, inspire change, and solidify new cultural ideas. FUEL, their debut documentary about the auto and oil industry, won the Sundance Film Festival's Audience Award for Best Documentary, was selected as a New York Times Critics' Pick, and was shortlisted for an Academy Award. Big Picture Ranch combines passion for environmental justice with a visionary approach to storytelling, and K. Makansi is excited to be working with them to adapt the script for the big screen. K. Makansi is the pen name for the mother-daughter writing trio of: Kristina Blank Makansi Born and raised in Southern Illinois, Kristina has a B.A. in Government from University of Texas at Austin and an M.A.T. from the College of New Jersey.
