"The Tail of the Raccoon, Part III: Departures" is the third story of the Sign Tracker Trilogy. In this story the adventures of the raccoon family continue to unfold against the backdrop of the forests, rivers, and skies of the Eastern Woodlands. Characters reveal their struggles and weaknesses as well as their loyalty, tenacity, and will to survive. Lepus, the son of the raccoon character Sign Tracker, has turned away from the intoxicating potion which once ruled his life, but he is constantly at war with his thoughts and impulses. Triggered by the presence of the silken vial, he cannot resist the drug. His family is thrown into a turmoil and his parents must seek help in order to save their son. Included with the story is an Educational Commentary that explains how the development of Sign-Tracking triggers relapse to drug-taking.
