About the Author

Brandon Philips is the Island of Hawaii's newest writer of action-adventure tales. His stories are inspired by the first-hand accounts of great world explorers like Lewis and Clark, Marco Polo, Captain Cook and Aurel Stein. Their encounters with people of other cultures for the first time provides the underlying material for his writing. An alumnus of the East-West Center in Honolulu, he is fluent in Mandarin and French. Over the years he has shared his love of world history and foreign languages with multitudes of students to promote better understanding between East and West. From the Italian neighborhood of Boston where he grew up, and Honolulu where he received his Master's Degree from the University of Hawaii, Philips has gone on to explore the Pacific, Asia and Europe. His writing style has been deeply influenced by an eclectic array of authors: John Grisham, David Baldacci, Sinclair Lewis,Wilbur Smith, Honore de Balzac, Charles Dickens and Ken Follett.
