David J. Reimer, Sr., has always had an appreciation for fine spirits, however it wasn't until he visited the Caribbean during a work study exchange with the Rotary Club that he became fascinated with the distilling process. Reimer didn't realize it at the time, but this trip would later be the inspiration for the book. Years later, when micro-distilleries started popping up in the U.S., Reimer wanted to learn more about the industry but, when he went looking for a guide to U.S. micro-distilleries, he found nothing. Reimer decided to do his own research, then thought, “If I’m going to do the research, I’m going to write a book.” And Micro-Distilleries in the U.S. and Canada was born. In addition to being a craft spirits connoisseur, Reimer is a freelance journalist, award winning photographer, veteran volunteer firefighter, humanitarian and entrepreneur. Over the past 25 years, he’s had scores of articles and dramatic imagery published in professional journals, consumer magazines, and textbooks. When he’s not working on upcoming book projects - or traveling and sampling fine spirits - Reimer enjoys woodworking, gardening, and cooking.
