Seven Spirits . . . Seven Stories
At a lodging in Samaria, Mary Magdalene stops for the night with a convoy of people traveling back to Galilee from Jerusalem following the resurrection of Jesus. Through unexpected circumstances she becomes a caretaker for a man left for dead on the side of the road. To pass time, she tells the unconscious man the series of events that brought her there, answering the questions of why she had seven spirits, who they were, how she came to be set free, and her inherent ministry thereafter.
Seven biblical stories are woven together through Mary Magdalene: the woman with the issue of blood, the rich young ruler, the woman caught in the act of adultery, the prodigal son, the woman with a spirit of infirmity, the woman anointing the feet of Jesus, and the good Samaritan. Throughout each encounter, she has the opportunity to share truth and redemption to those suffering under the same spirits she carried for a decade. The novel ends where it began, with Mary attending the sick man, who presents an opportunity for her to submit once again to the same demons.
