Synopsis
This book is about domestic violence and attempts to address theological issues that occur at the intersection of race, class and gender in America. Drawing on the unique insights of a "wounded black woman of faith," seven Christian doctrines are examined: God, Sin, Humanity, Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Church, and Ministry. This constructive theology employs social psychology, womanism, and participatory action research as epistemological tools, enabling the author to articulate a theology of hope for women who have been harmed by domestic abuse.

About the Author
Lorrie C. Reed is an educator whose professional experiences include service as a teacher, educational administrator, university research professor, and consultant. She holds a Ph.D. in Research Methodology, a Master’s degree in Theological Studies, and a Master of Divinity degree. Her research and theological reflections highlight educational, social, and spiritual mechanisms for reinforcing inter-generational hope, healing, and resilience among oppressed people. She lives with her husband in Chicago and actively mentors aspiring scholars, encouraging them to engage in “research for a just world.”
