John W. Lamb, an independent scholar in Maryland Civil War history and nineteenth-century technology, was featured in an episode of the Discovery Channel's Mythbusters series dedicated to investigating the Winans Steam Gun. He lives in Harrison, Tennessee, with his wife and three children.
