About the Author

Ray Hampton was born in Oahu, Hawaii, on October 8, 1964. He and his wife, Julia, have extended their hands to many individuals and families who were destitute of daily needs. As a child and teenager, he was raised in Lynnwood, Washington, where he attended elementary junior high and high school. In July 1991, at the age of twenty-six, he realized he had a passion to help people in a great way, so he went out on the street corner of Colby and Hewitt in Everett, Washington, to start feeding the hungry. At that very moment, his outreach ministry was born with a folding card table, a ten-gallon McDonald’s juice container, ten loaves of bread, and ten packages of bologna. He has been doing community outreach consistently for more than twenty-five years and currently is an author, outreach specialist, theologian, entrepreneur, philanthropist, television personality, and public figure. He is known throughout the United States and Africa for his methodology regarding outreach. He has served as chaplain in a wide range of venues, from the Snohomish County corrections facility to semiprofessional soccer teams, and as a mentor to many National Football League players from the Seattle Seahawks organization. He currently serves under the leadership of Pastors Edward and Yvette Brinson as the evangelism and outreach director for all six satellite campuses of the Redeeming Word Christian Center International, four in Florida (Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Bradenton, and Belle Glade), one in Barbados, and one in Rochester, New York. He also believes in higher education, having started out at Washington State University and continued his education at A. L. Hardy Academy of Theology. To his acclaim, he currently holds a master’s degree in marriage and biblical family counseling and two doctoral degrees, one in ministry and the other in theology. Ray Hampton has inspired thousands of homeless, helpless, and hopeless individuals and families for more than twenty-five years by giving them, not only a handout, but also a hand up through his many massive outreach giveaways. These include brand-new toys at the annual “Christmas in the City” toy giveaway and to date more than ninety thousand in total.
