In gratitude for her now 33-year survival after breast cancer surgery, Cynthia donates money from every book sold to The Wellness Community, an international organization that provides free support, education and hope to cancer patients and their families. Additionally Frohlichstein encourages her readers and audiences at her signings, talks and readings to donate peanut butter (and jelly) for food pantries in their areas to help them meet the ever-growing need of families who can not afford food. The book was awarded First Prize for Children's Literature by Missouri Professional Communicators in 2008. On a national level, the book earned Second Prize in Children's Literature in the 2008 Communications Contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women.
