The story of Nat Turner and his slave rebellion - which began on August 21, 1831 - is known among school children and adults. This graphic novel collects all four issues of Kyle Baker's critically acclaimed mini series together for the first time in hardback, now coloured in sepia from the original digital files. It includes scholarly introduction by TBD (Kyle suggests either Stanley Crouch, Cornell West, or Michael Dyson), as well as footnotes, a bibliography and historical supplementary material and documents. It will also have new cover art.

I read this straight through in a single two hour sitting. At some point I'll read it again. And when my children are older, I'm going to let them read it because it feels important without being sanctimonious. Great art. Great story. Profound and difficult truths. What more could you ask of a graphic novel?
