Dr. Speroff takes the reader along on his journey as he rekindles his lifelong love affair with the game. From choosing the perfect glove to finding the "sweet" spot on his bat, to the camaraderie among his teammates on the 70-plus "Lime Popsicles," this story celebrates a personal triumph over the aging process.

Leon Speroff is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University. He is known worldwide for his textbook, Clinical Gynecologic Endocrinology and Infertility, which has been translated into many languages and is now in its 7th edition. Dr. Speroff grew up in Ohio, and he continues to root for the Cleveland sports teams. He lives in a rural area outside of Portland, Oregon, with his wife Sen and their two daughters, Sevda and Elena. When not writing or teaching, Dr. Speroff can be found riding his tractor or fly-fishing.
"Only three guys are older than I am; the rest range from sixty-three to seventy-one. Every single member of our team wants to win, enjoys winning. But I notice that winning takes second place to just playing. We all have the same problem: diminished strength and stamina. We can't run as fast as we used to. We can't throw hard and far. And we all have trouble bending over quickly. But playing is a statement, a challenge to aging. Each and every one of us is grateful to be here, to be able to play senior softball, even with its slower pace and special rules."
