Brand new spiral bound softcover book!; The Willie and martin companies were the 4th and 5th of ten pioneer companies (converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seeking to "gather to Zion") that crossed the plains from Iowa City, Iowa, and Omaha, Nebraska, to Salt Lake City, Utah, using handcarts.Due to a number of compounding circumstances and delays, they left late in the year of 1856, and thus were caught in unseasonal October snow storms on the high plains of Wyoming. Of their roughly 1400 number, over 250 perished.
