Reflections was written with God, people and nature in mind. The author, Ralph Kiesling, ranges from western to spiritual, to humour. He throws in some philosophy coupled with an appreciation of nature. One can see Ralph's enjoyment of the mountains and the desert and the creatures that live there. His sea litanies are interesting and are cause for thought. The way he merges spirituality and geography in one poem, or metered story. You can also see his concern for people in his writing. He brings back many memories of holidays and childhood activities. He writes about many things of long ago and many events that took place on special occasions. The thoughts about Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween will take you back to your own childhood. Some philosophical poems may cause one to ponder the value of friendship or what is a treasure. It questions whether silver or gold, land or power, are the ultimate treasures. Other thoughts that Reflections speaks of are about breaking broncos, or how to become a cowboy. Stories about the standard western villain are here. This is like a western movie, as the story unfolds. With a little imagination, you can almost see the animals dancing at their annual ball.
