About the Author

Ray Hogan is a 30 year hands on diverse technologist. He has spent the bulk of his career as an applications developer working on Relational Database applications. He has learned and subsequently discarded technologies many times with the changing nature of IT. Ray has an unusual combination of skills in that he can both do technology and teach technology. On top of his 28 years of teaching experience (karate), He spent 2, 3 year periods as a technical trainer teaching Web Development in the late 90’s and then for Cognos as a Trainer in the mid 00’s. As a trainer, he has a knack for simplifying complex things, providing multiple descriptions of the same thing and caring that his students succeed. As a developer, he believes that simplicity is better but simplicity is not necessarily easy. He also believes that underlying principles will help you Ray currently is a VP of Business Intelligence doing hands on report development, training and software development at a Major Financial Institution in the NYC area. Ray is certified in Cognos (reporting, modeling and administration), and is a Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+).
