When my surgery created both physical and emotional devastation, every doctor I saw told me all my problems must be in my head, and that I should see a psychiatrist. Fortunately, when I finally found a doctor who recognized my hormone-deficient state, she placed me on a hormone replacement program that gradually returned me to my original self.
After I bounced back to life, I wanted to know more about what had happened to me. Part of my professional career involved researching medical journals to assist busy doctors in quickly accessing the latest research, so I decided to use this knowledge and expertise to find help for my surgically-altered state.
As I started reading the research and medical journals published world-wide, the information dumfounded me. I was astonished to find out how much the medical community knows, but does not convey to women about their own bodies. I was equally amazed to discover that every symptom I experienced had been linked to hysterectomies since the 1930s.
