As indicated in its title, "Stuttering: Science, Therapy & Practice" is divided into three main sections. The reader can focus on the section that interests him/her the most. Mr. Kehoe gives references to books and journals if the reader wishes to delve more deeply into the scientific aspect of stuttering. The book includes practical issues, numerous resources (organizations, books, World Wide Web sites), flooding you with ideas to try. There are chapters covering computers and electronic devices, stuttering therapy programs, successful stuttering stories, books and journals on stuttering, conditions that increase/decrease stuttering, and many more areas too numerous to mention here.
In the section on "Stuttering Therapy Programs," Mr. Kehoe devotes 11 pages describing current programs from childhood through adult (including the cost of some), and ending with psychological self-therapy. This section follows with three pages under the subhead, "Effectiveness of Stuttering Therapies," in which Mr. Kehoe gives a candid, yet polite appraisal of the current therapies on the market. He does not recommend any of them, but encourages readers to thoroughly investigate a therapy program, considering needs and goals before committing oneself.
"Stuttering: Science, Therapy & Practice" is a 158-page, meticulously-fashioned masterpiece which gives a comprehensive description of what stuttering is, and many of the adaptive and unadaptive ways of dealing with it. On the cover page, under the book's title, Mr. Kehoe calls it, "The Most Complete Book About Stuttering." If it isn't, it certainly comes close to it.
I found the video "Computers and Electronic Devices for Stuttering" riveting. It was an hour well-spent. In the video, Mr. Kehoe describes the three devices Casa Futura Technologies manufactures. You can get a copy of "Stuttering: Science, Therapy & Practice" [right here from Amazon!]. Believe me, it's worth the effort to do so.
