This book grew out of Charles Salter's experience teaching at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design as well as from his acoustical consulting firm's projects over the last 20 years. Coverage includes methods of sound isolation in buildings; cost-benefit analysis of diverse acoustical materials and designs; technologies for noise abatement; environmental acoustics, including noise ordinances and land planning issues; and legal issues.
