What comes as a surpreise is that Mario Machi's revealing book Under The Rising Sun is well read in Japan and has had favorable reviews there. The Bataan Deah March Museum in Manila has offered to purshase the original diary that Mario keep during the march. Harold Stephens, who wrote the introduction to Under The Rising Sun has made contract with the grandchildren of the Filipino man who kept the diary in hiding during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines and sent to to Mario long after the war. This most interesting chapter will be included in the next printing.
