Growing up .....Little House on the Prairie....with a twist
If You Want to Soar, You've Got to Learn to Fly, is a book of us can identify with. It's about everyday events of growing up, but it's also about the discovery of ones' sexuality. I write it from the first person as it is about my life, but I write it as if I'm whatever age I'm portraying at the time.. as from five years old through twenty. And when I'm five, I write and speak as a five years old. The print is large, the speech like the simple mind that is indicative of that age. And as I get older, the speech and print size indicate that also. Family photos and illustrations fill this easy to read, enjoyable book. I loved writing it as I chuckled at my own memories of such things as my discoveries of the differences between Democrats and Republicans. The book is full of wit, but that comes from the child's mind. And later there is pain, as the realities and challenges of life and discovery of love and unrequited love force me to accept who I am.
