Profusely illustrated with about 200 drawings and vintage b & w photos, including numerous celebrities and New York Yankee players and other baseball greats - Joe DiMaggio, Rocky Colavito, Lou Gehrig, Duke Snider, Willie Mays, etc. About half the book consists of facsimilies of letters concerning Fordham and the book FORDHAM WAS A TOWN that the author received from friends and celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Mayor Ed Hoch, Governor Mario Cuomo, Lawrence Welk, Alan Alda, (often reproduced along with their autographed portraits), etc. Illustrations and design by Hank Cutrona. Illustrated by Hank Cutrona and multiple-photographic images throughout in b+w. The book has dark green-black textured covers with gilt lettering on the spine and front board. The boards show some light wear the cove to the board edge scuffed, show through the cover at the spine ends and tips The jacket has moderate wear, e.g. has creases, small tears, light soiling to covers. The dust wrapper is now protected in clear archival sleeve. Interior is clean & bright, free of markings except as noted. There is a faint horizontal mark in blue across fore edge of text block.
