My first book of poetry. Poems about figures in Greek
mythology as well as imitations of some classical poets (especially Horace)
using quantitative approximations of classical Greek meters. Also, quite a
few love poems and some poems descriptive of natural scenery.
Like many young poets, I had to publish this book myself. It had been
rejected by seven publishers over a period of 12 months. Yet, the winning
of the British Commonwealth Poetry Prize produced enormous amount of
publicity, ensuring most copies sold out. I have some 50 copies left, for
which I now charge a not-unreasonable $50.00 AUD each.
