Synopsis

Baker, Phil; Lachman, Gary; Wallace, William. Jerusalem Press, London, 2012. First Edition. Softcover. Large octavo. 200+ pp. In custom wraps with French fold jacket. Color plates and illustrations. Limited to 500 copies.

The book includes a complete transcript of talks given at the time of the 2010 Austin Spare Exhibition at the Cuming Museum which was previously celebrated in the work, COCKNEY VISIONARY. It also delivers much new detail, including photography of the installation, a fully illustrated list of the 110 works (including cabinet objects), and a finalized patrons list along with a selection of visitors’ comments. Whereas COCKNEY VISIONARY was centered on the works in the South London Gallery collection, this volume finally allows all the AOS loans in detail. A special feature of the design of this book, using the original Exhibition’s sequence of marvelous AOS self-portraits, and are recreated across a special fold-out double-sided dust wrapper. The transcripts of the talks, complete with contextual Images, are by the following contributors to this volume: Phil Baker, Geraldine Beskin, Michael Staley, Caroline Wise, Judy Aitken, Christopher Jordan, Ross MacFarlane, William Wallace, and last, but not least, the publisher and compiler, Stephen Pochin. Small quarto volume with double sided fold-out cover. 203 pages. Color plates and illustrations.
