Paul Rouse is a straight talking Yorkshire businessman and marketer who has been there, and done most of it in a 30 year career during which he headed the marketing functions at Allied Carpets and William Hill, ran two full service Ad Agencies, and took a large management buyout to a public floatation.
His book My Marketing Miscellany blows the lid on many marketing myths, and gives a warts and all insight into subjects ranging from venture capital to the internet.
Some of the content is, to say the least, unusual, and rarely found in marketing books - joining the Board, and organising a management buyout, being two examples.
As Rouse says, this is not a marketing textbook. It is aimed at business people who market things and who are `on the way up, and with an eye for the main chance'.
