Synopsis

The crit is a model of learning whereby artists present their work to a group in order to gain feedback on how that work is being ‘read’ and ways that they might develop it further. They are a part of almost every UK FE &HE art course. Through interviews with UK fine art staff, Art Crits: 20 Questions takes a closer look at the model. The contributors give their views on the purpose of the crit and talk about different models that they use. They also talk about barriers that participants can face to taking part and give examples of how they try to facilitate more confident participation. The staff also reflect on what their own crits were like, providing a fascinating insight to how things have changed.
