Synopsis

Southern Rails on the Isle of Wight Volume One was awarded the prize as Joint Best Self-published Book for 2010 by the David St John Thomas Charitable Trust. Now the Southern Rails series continues with Southern Rails on the Isle of Wight Volume Two: The Ventnor and Bembridge Lines. As previously this volume makes use of the latest developments in publishing and printing technology, featuring both colour and black and white photographs, histories of the lines and stations, as well as full colour station plans and route maps. It also includes tickets and other ephemera, along with photos which bring the stories of these lines right up to date.

Covering the lines from Ryde to Ventnor as well as from Brading to Bembridge, there are also surveys of locomotives and rolling stock. Other features include electrification, the Pier Tramway, and the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. In total there are some 176 pages with over 250 photographs.

Volume Two is due to be published September 2010.
