Synopsis

On the afternoon of the 11th of September 2001 the author was distressed to see on television the murder of thousands of innocents at the terrorist destruction of the New York World Trade Center. The atrocity was followed by scenes of Muslim Palestinians dancing with joy at the news. Many years earlier he had gone to boarding school in India with the children of Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jews where there had been no trace of religious or racial animosity. The search for the cause of all this bitterness and anger has given rise to this book. The book details the origins of the Israeli and Palestinian problem with source details of Israeli atrocities during an ethnic cleansing of Palestine in 1948 and 1949. The book analyses Faith, defines religion and the causes of religious belief. It explains how beliefs enter the mind. The nature of belief and the causes of irrational belief are made clear. Many self contradictions in the Bible and Koran are pointed out. The numerous dead religions of the distant past, that no longer have worshippers, are listed. Religious Fundamentalism is defined and exposed.

Thousands of cases of Hallucination Psychoses are treated by modern psychiatrists. There is ample evidence to that these same mental diseases were also suffered by the original religious founders of Christianity, Islam and Judaism. It clearly shows how and why their psychotic hallucinations are now falsely ascribed to be a 'divine revelation' by believers. Quotations from the Bible and the Koran reveal rarely discussed facts. For example, Abraham prostituted his wife to the Pharaoh of Egypt and the king of Gerar. Christ's chosen twelve disciples were limited to a strange group of male misfits who all hated their own families. It makes one wonder what Jesus Christ, a victim of hallucination psychoses, was doing leading these twelve social misfits as they wandered unemployed around Palestine during his so called ministry. The probable answer is suggested. Chapter and verse quotations from the Koran show, amongst other things, direct orders from their God to all Muslims to kill unbelievers wherever they can find them. The book describes the origins and beliefs of the six major religions of the world, comprising Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jews.

It also explains why the Confucian and Shinto philosophies are not listed as religions. Finally the book contrasts the difference between the realities of existence and the wholly imaginary thoughts of religious believers and the resulting tragic world troubles.
