Synopsis

'Learning how to play to win' is not about the unjust world economic order that keeps poorer countries in continuing dependence and poverty. Neither is it about the IMF, the World Bank or the multi-nationals’ role in making nations like ours constantly impoverished. I am in agreement that these external institutions constitute a grave part of the problem of our perpetual poverty, but I also believe that they have assisted us to reach political stability. Dependence happens because we ourselves allow it to happen and particularly because we lack leaders who are committed to national autonomy and real independence; leaders who are prepared to go the extra mile in negotiations.
