Synopsis
Now in its sixth year, "The Textile Directory 2007" is bigger and better than ever, with over 2000 entries. The book is packed with readily accessible resources for anyone in search of people, places or products related to textiles in art, craft, fashion or interiors. The new edition will be launched at The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace on 12 October 2006. The book includes listings under the main sections Textile People (including contact details of several hundred textile artists, designers and makers), Textiles on Show, Textile Education, Textile Shopping and Textile Publishing. The Textile Showcase section features the work of leading professionals and the Textile Gallery collection has been assembled from work submitted by artists in response to our open competition run throughout the life of the previous edition. The Textile Directory 2007 Design Award has been won this year by Sue Allan. Sue has developed an exciting way of presenting her textile innovations and images of her wonderful doll characters appear throughout the book and the website. The book also features the work of Joanne Haywood, our other finalist, who has created a range of innovative jewellery by combining forged metal with textile.
