This book is edited by J Chuhan, Richard Creed, Sheila Maddison. It contains essays by Amy Dickson, Sheila Maddison; and foreword by Monica Petzal. J Chuhan creates sensuous paintings based on her fascination with the anonymous female body. In her birthing series, "Bodies", she aims to paint not only the physical experience of birth but also the emotional and psychic experience, encompassing polarities of pleasure and pain. Amy Dickson considers that: 'By shattering the conventional portrayal of conception and birth as immaculate and virginal, whilst simultaneously repossessing the pregnant nude and relocating it in a domestic, feminine space, Chuhan visualizes the taboo, a painted, contemporary rendering of the act of birth from a female point of view.'

About the book >.>.> J Chuhan creates sensuous paintings that explore the human form, blending texture, materials, and abstraction to evoke both microcosmic and macrocosmic themes. Her work is deeply evocative, capturing the essence of the body in ways that are both intimate and expansive. Amy DeSion, reflecting on Chuhan?s work, notes: ?By subverting the conventional portrayal of conception and birth as immaculate and pristine, Chuhan reimagines these processes from a domestic, feminine perspective. Her paintings combine visceral depictions of birth with subtle hints of sexual activity, creating a highly charged, sensual narrative. Chuhan?s work bridges the masculine and the feminine, the interior and the exterior, the painted subject and the paint itself. Her art carries an emotional weight, yet it also conveys something deeply personal and individual?something that resonates on a primordial level, transcending gender and societal norms (LL).
