This is the fascinating autobiography of Eleanor Ruth Jackson. Born into a prominent farming family a few years before the First World War, she describes an idyllic rural childhood in the heart of Worcestershire. From these early years she went on to a long career in teaching, and recalls her experiences as a young teacher working in a convent followed by her time at Nantwich Grammar School which spanned some twenty-five years. Away from her career she tells of her travels to Europe and in particular how she fell in love with Yugoslavia. In her retirement she has returned to Worcestershire and, at the age of ninety-one, her great enthusiasm goes on. Her current interest is the site of a Roman settlement near her home.
