This hilarious book is a perfect present for any occasion
I wrote this book for the millions of long suffering non-horsey partners across the planet who have entered the totally barmy world of horses. Everyone who has read it so far thinks it hilarious and an all too true look at everyday situations. You will read about the Vet (who never seems to get paid), the Farrier who always keeps his willing victims waiting in cold lonely fields, the Gentry and those who would wish to be Gentry (but don't have any money) and of course the millions of know-it-all horsey people. We look at everyday situations, such as why horsey people love getting up in the middle of the night to frollick in muck - why they never seem to actually get to ride their trusty steed (on account of weather conditions, flies, the fact that the damned thing is always lame etc etc) and we explore events such as the Fun Ride(where nobody seems to have any fun) and totally incomprehensible events such as the In Hand Out of Hand Round the Houses Hunter Trials Dressage Races. And of course we make a trip to the Hospital Casualty Ward and review the effects on the National Health Service if people stopped riding horses (more resources to build five million new hospitals, for example). All in all, it's an hilarious read (don't just take my word for it - Riding Magazine made it Book of the Month in April 1999) and the perfect present for any horsey person to give to their other half for Christmas, Father's Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries etc - and of course it will save considerably on his psychiatrist's bills ! Horsey people love it too- and it's a good everyday read. Horse magazine said :" It is ideal for non-horsey partners to read while you escape to the stables" Dressage News said:" Make sure your partner has this book to comfort him in his bed, as you make that last night trip to the stables to check on the real love of your life" and Riding Magazine said:"A truly hilarious and wonderful book and an absolute 'must' for everyone who is involved with horses or in danger of becoming involved with them .. written with such pin-point accuracy and razor sharp observation."
