RICHARD D. LEWIS is Chairman of UK-based consultancy Richard Lewis Communications, offering tailored cross-cultural advice to multinational corporations and governments. Author of the best-selling When Cultures Collide, Lewis is widely regarded as one of the world's leading interculturalists and linguists. He speaks ten European and two Asian languages and has worked in dozens of countries including Japan, where he tutored Empress Michiko and other members of the Japanese Imperial family. In 1997 he was knighted by President Ahtisaari of Finland.
