From the Publisher

This review is by Sir Edward Fennesessy who pre-war was a member of the Bawdsey Research station and during the war on the staff at 60 Group Fighter Command responsible for the planning and construction of the CH, GEE and OBOE systems.

" Radar, or RDF as it was known before the war, enabled Fighter Command to fight and win the Battle of Britain in 1940. Had Goering won this battle,as indeed he came close to doing,Hitler planned to invade England and the entire course of British and indeed world history would have dramatically changed....Many have told the story of those dramatic days. Many are based on their personal experiences, but Michael Bragg in writing RDF1 has researched in meticulous detail the work of those involved led by Robert Watson Watt and Air Marshal Dowding. In doing so he has placed on record, for readers of today and historians of the future, a dramatic and accurate story of how radio technology played such a crucial role in a battle the loss of which would almost certainly resulted in the first invasion of England since 1066."
