From the Publisher

We, at Nova Publications, wanted to cover the Stage One Examination from the viewpoint of the candidate. Many, many books are published from the Examiner’s point of view, from those who did the Exam decades ago. Here we have a book that describes everything the candidate needs to know, from what to wear, how to apply for the exam, how to answer the questions as well as every bit of information necessary, not just to pass the exam but to enter it with confidence. This is a book from the grass roots level, it explains how you will feel as a candidate and also what the Examiner’s will expect of you.

We also wanted to publish a truly different style of book from the normal ‘horsey’ literature and textbooks, which are normally filled with ‘horsey’ terms written it seems only to confuse, never to enlighten. Hazel Reed explains everything in layman’s terms; she does not assume that anyone knows it all, for none of us ever do about horses. She writes with passion, knowledge and a love of horses, as well as in a clear, concise and down to earth style. This book is not just for students, it can be used as a reference book or a handbook for anyone wanting to know all those subjects everyone assumes you know, from the very basic requirements of caring for and riding horses and ponies.
