About the Author

Rod Holmes began surfing in the late 60's in Newquay. Former member of the North-East-West Surf Club, Croyde Surf Club, and Newquay Boardriders and a past President of the English Surfing Federation. Doug Wilson came to Cornwall in 1959 as a lifeguard and surf photographer. His images from the early sixties record that faraway place of young dreams, no crowds, golden sunsets, good friends, the shock of cold, clear blue water and the sheer outrageous, electrifying slide across a glass-smooth face of a perfect wave.
