This book aims to encourage students in years 10 and 11 to develop a range of learning skills. These skills will assist their progress in all subjects and help prepare them for lifelong learning. The book is made up of photocopiable activities which are designed for immediate classroom use. They require little preparation in advance but do assume that students will have access to coloured pens and paper of different sizes. Space is often left on the activity sheets for students' writing but some of the spaces are not large so it is advisable that students have access to an exercise book or lined paper. Most of the activities aim to provoke discussion and reflection rather than seek 'correct' answers. For this reason they are particularly suitable for pair or group work. Teachers are encouraged to use them selectively and adapt them to meet their specific needs. The book is divided into four sections: 1. Improving Learning 2. Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills 3. Working with Others 4. Preparing for Exams
