Handwritten signed headed note addressed from Anthea Holme, 44 Hill Top Road, Oxford OX4 1PE dated 13.6.92 to Teddy [E. C. Hodgkin] consisting of about 45 words in which she mentions books she is reading Ð Shusha Guppy and Albert Hourani's History. E. C. (Teddy) Hodgkin (1913 Ð 2006), a notable journalist with a knowledge of the Middle East in particular, worked for 'The Times' for twenty years. 'Portrait' was published posthumously by Anthea Holme, the author's widow. Hugh Christopher Holme (1907 Ð 1991) was the Reuters correspondent who first brought the horror of the bombing of Guernica to the world's attention. Some of the poems in this collection are about Holme's time in Spain, one is entitled 'Gernika, April 26 1937'.
