The people chosen are well-known in their own fields, but not generally associated with heritage, and their responses to the commission are passionate and hugely diverse. They have written about their childhood memories of country walks and parks, theatres and concert halls, churches and cathedrals, schools and colleges, regeneration projects, football grounds and lost treasures, all from a deeply personal perspective, with the insight that the love and enthusiasm for a place brings.
