Synopsis
This book tells the story of Holyhead Convent, and of those who worked and studied there. It begins at the turn of the century, with the arrival of the Bon Sauveur Sisters in Holyhead, and traces the story of the community, pupils, buildings, and grounds, for over 75 years. The dramatic story of the Convent's last years is told here - the desperate efforts made to retain it, and why these ended in failure. At the same time the book looks towards the future, with the preserved Chapel, and the relocated Community of Sisters, and out of a sad ending draws an optimistic conclusion. With 200 photographs and illustrations the publication makes a fitting memorial to a an outstanding building, as well as a testimonial to the ongoing work of a much-loved religious community.
